Narrow down a Bluetooth audio problem

Use a short sequence to find whether the issue follows the app, headphones, or device.

Check the selected audio output

Play a short clip and open your device’s audio output selector. Choose your headphones or speaker by name. If the same accessory connects to multiple devices, check which one currently has the active connection.

Try another clip and app

Repeat the test with a downloaded clip or a file on the device if available. If one app has the problem and another plays normally, compare the app’s playback settings and selected output. This can help isolate an app-specific issue.

Change one connection at a time

Move close to the accessory and pause other connected devices before testing again. If the problem persists, try the headphones with a second phone or computer. Record whether the symptoms follow the headphones or stay on the original device.

Check the product instructions

If you decide to remove the device from the paired list, review the manufacturer’s pairing steps first. Keep them available so you can reconnect the device after clearing the connection.
